The business of raising alpacas has grown dramatically since the animals first arrived in this country in the early 1980's. Vermont, with its deep-rooted agricultural traditions, ideal moderate climate and large percentage of open farmland, has grown to be the leading producer of alpacas in New England. Vermont boasts some of the finest alpaca farms in the country, some of the most respected and knowledgeable breeders and an outstanding selection of superior quality alpacas.
